Responsible herpetourism in Amapá, Brazil
This nature itinerary is for travellers interested in observing and photographing amphibians and reptiles in forest and river landscapes around Serra do Navio and the Tumucumaque region. Field conditions, weather and wildlife activity vary, so neither sightings nor particular species are promised.
Contact the team to discuss dates, group size, activity level, access conditions and the guidance that applies to the itinerary before making travel arrangements.
Bring a headlamp, clothing and footwear suited to wet trails, insect repellent, drinking water, rain protection, a camera protected from humidity and the personal items requested for the trip.
Keep a respectful distance, do not touch, capture, feed or move wildlife, leave logs and rocks in place, clean field gear between areas and do not disclose sensitive locations.
The aim is to document wildlife in situ without altering its behaviour or habitat. Any lighting, approach and photo setup must follow the guide’s instructions and the rules in force for the visited area.
Access conditions, authorizations and protected-area rules must be confirmed with the responsible institutions before each trip. The ICMBio page identifies Tumucumaque Mountains National Park as part of the Amazon biome.
